About Arsuk

Arsuk "the beloved place" is a village with about 125 inhabitants. The village’s landmark is the 1418-metre high Kungnait Mountain. Here, if you are lucky you could find the special gemstone called a moonstone.

Arsuk was founded in 1805 and in the beginning, it was called Putugoq (big toe), because there was a rock that resembled one in the area. Arsuk is close to Grønnedal, where Greenland Command is located, as is the abandoned mining town of Ivittuut, which is a Mecca for geology buffs with its more than 100 different minerals.
