1. TICKETS

Bookings are made at https://aul.gl/ . Payment is due at the same time as the booking confirmation. Confirmation and payment imply simultaneous acceptance of the general terms. Tickets must be presented at boarding. The ticket contains a booking number, which must be provided when contacting Arctic Umiaq Line A/S.

Fees
A sales fee of 90 DKK in addition to the ticket price is charged for online ticket purchases. A sales fee of 250 DKK in addition to the ticket price is charged for onboard ticket purchases. Any fees charged by third parties during purchase are not the concern of Arctic Umiaq Line A/S.

GO-Ticket
A GO-ticket cannot be changed or canceled and is only valid for the purchased travel plan and passenger. Discounts are not applicable to GO-tickets. It is not possible to upgrade a GO-ticket (e.g., from a Couchette to a Premium Couchette).

STANDARD-Ticket
A STANDARD-ticket can be changed up to 24 hours before departure against a change fee of 90 DKK per booking.
A STANDARD-ticket can be changed to the rotation before or after the booked departure as long as the rotation before or after has an identical sailing schedule to the booked departure against a change fee of 90 DKK per booking + difference in ticket price:
If the rotation before the booked departure rotation is different, the booking cannot be changed to the rotation before.
If the rotation after the booked departure rotation is different, the booking cannot be changed to the rotation after.
If the ticket price is higher in the changed departure rotation, the difference in price is paid by the customer at the same time as the customer pays a change fee of 90 DKK per booking.
If the ticket price is lower in the changed departure rotation, the difference in price is refunded to the customer at the same time as the customer pays a change fee of 90 DKK per booking.
A purchased STANDARD-ticket can be refunded in accordance with section 2 ii. below.
Tickets canceled less than 24 hours before departure are not refunded.

FLEX-Ticket
A FLEX-ticket can be changed up to 24 hours before departure against a change fee of 90 DKK per booking.
A FLEX-ticket can freely be changed to a new travel plan against a change fee of 90 DKK per booking + difference in ticket price.
If the ticket price is higher in the changed travel plan, the difference in price must be paid during the change at the same time as the customer pays a change fee of 90 DKK per booking.
If the ticket price is lower in the changed travel plan, the difference in price is refunded to the customer at the same time as the customer pays a change fee of 90 DKK per booking.
A purchased FLEX-ticket can be refunded in accordance with section 2 iii. below.
Tickets canceled less than 24 hours before departure are not refunded.
Discount services are applicable for FLEX-tickets.
It is possible to upgrade or downgrade the purchased product.

For example, it is possible to upgrade from a Couchette to a Premium Couchette with a FLEX-ticket against a change fee of 90 DKK per booking. Similarly, it is possible to downgrade, for example, from a Premium Couchette to a Couchette with a FLEX-ticket against a change fee of 90 DKK per booking.

Round Trips
Round trips in Junior Suites from June 1, 2024, to October 19, 2024, from Nuuk to Nuuk are equivalent to a FLEX-ticket, however, limited to the three round trip products. It is possible to change the ticket to another round trip departure. It is not possible to change to a different travel plan.


2. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

Parts or all of the ticket price can be refunded if it is a STANDARD or FLEX ticket and canceled at least 24 hours before the originally booked departure time.

Refund GO-Ticket
Refund rates for a GO-ticket when cancellation occurs:

  • 90 days or more before the original departure date: 0%
  • 60-89 days before the original departure date: 0%
  • 30-59 days before the original departure date: 0%
  • 7-29 days before the original departure date: 0%
  • 24 hours to 6 days before the original departure date: 0%
  • Less than 24 hours before the original departure date: 0%
  • No-show: 0%

Refund STANDARD-Ticket
Refund rates for a STANDARD-ticket when cancellation occurs:

  • 90 days or more before the original departure date: 90%
  • 60-89 days before the original departure date: 80%
  • 30-59 days before the original departure date: 60%
  • 7-29 days before the original departure date: 40%
  • 24 hours to 6 days before the original departure date: 20%
  • Less than 24 hours before the original departure date: 0%
  • No-show: 0%

Refund fee per passenger per segment: 90 DKK

Refund FLEX-Ticket
Refund rates for a FLEX-ticket when cancellation occurs:

  • 90 days or more before the original departure date: 100%
  • 60-89 days before the original departure date: 100%
  • 30-59 days before the original departure date: 100%
  • 7-29 days before the original departure date: 90%
  • 24 hours to 6 days before the original departure date: 90%
  • Less than 24 hours before the original departure date: 0%
  • No-show: 0%

Refund fee per passenger per segment: 90 DKK

Refund of Add-ons
Refund rates for add-on products such as meals, blankets, wi-fi, and excursions when cancellation occurs:

  • 30 days or more before the original departure date: 100%
  • 7-29 days before the original departure date: 50%
  • Less than 7 days before the original departure date: 0%
  • No-show: 0% Refund fee on add-on products: 0 DKK

Refund of Fees
Fees such as sales and change fees are non-refundable regardless of ticket type.


3. CANCELLATION AND CHANGES

Schedules are only an estimate and cannot be guaranteed. Arctic Umiaq Line A/S reserves the right to cancel individual departures and to change set departure times. Arctic Umiaq Line A/S offers no compensation if the cancellation or change is due to lack of joining the trip or external circumstances such as force majeure or similar conditions like strikes, wind and weather conditions including delays resulting from these, natural disasters, acts of war, epidemics, technical reasons, and governmental demands. This list is not exhaustive.

Arctic Umiaq Line A/S reserves the right to accommodate the passenger in a different category than booked for the whole or part of the journey and compensates solely the pro-rata difference between the price of the booked category and the lower category assigned to the passenger.

If ice or other natural obstacles or governmental demands make it unsafe to continue the journey, Arctic Umiaq Line A/S may terminate the journey at the nearest port. The journey will resume as soon as possible.


4. DISCOUNT SERVICES

Discount services are applicable to Entre, Couchette and Premium Couchette products.

Discount services are not applicable to GO-tickets.

Discount services are not applicable to fees.

Discount services are not applicable to cabins and suites.

Infant and Child Discount:

  • Under 2 years: 100% discount off the ticket price
  • 2-12 years: 50% discount off the ticket price

Retired and pre-retired discount for residents of Greenland:

  • Retired pensioners in low, mid, and high season: 50% discount off the ticket price
  • Pre-retirees in low and mid-season: 50% discount off the ticket price
  • Pre-retirees in high season: 25% off the ticket price
  • Discount for retired only applies to residents of Greenland.

A retired/pre-retired pensioner card must be presented when purchasing a ticket or shortly before departure. The discount does not apply retroactively if the journey has begun. If in doubt, send a copy of the pension card to info@aul.gl.


5. LUGGAGE

Luggage is limited to 30 kg per person for travelers in Entre, Couchette, Premium Couchette, or Cabin. Luggage is limited to 60 kg per person for travelers in Suites. Luggage should only include standard travel items such as suitcases, bags, sacks, or similar. Extra luggage costs 10 DKK per kg + a fee of 200 DKK. Excess weight will be referred to shipping at the applicable rate as cargo by ship.


6. TRAVEL WITH THIRD PARTY

Arctic Umiaq Line A/S reserves the right to conduct all or part of a journey purchased via Arctic Umiaq Line A/S by involving a third party Certain segments are solely transported by a third party. These segments include – but are not limited to:

  • Uummannaq – Upernavik and return
  • Uummannaq – Ikerasak and return
  • Uummannaq – Saattut and return
  • Uummannaq – Ukkusissat and return

Arctic Umiaq Line A/S may without notice add or withdraw segments to be transported by a third party. When transporting by a third-party shipping company, the third party’s terms and conditions regarding the practical execution of the journey apply.


7. EXCURSIONS

Unless otherwise clearly and distinctly indicated in the description of an excursion offered via Arctic Umiaq Line A/S’ booking portal, the excursion is conducted by a third party. All excursions offered via Arctic Umiaq Line A/S’ booking portal are solely facilitated and sold via the portal; Arctic Umiaq Line A/S does not control third-party personnel, offers, services, materials, or anything else involved in the excursion. At all times, the executing party’s applicable terms and conditions apply during an excursion. Arctic Umiaq Line A/S cannot be held liable for third-party performance of excursions, including but not limited to:

  • Cancellations
  • Changes
  • Unfulfilled expectations
  • Denial of passengers on the day

8. REJECTION AND DISMISSAL

Rejection or dismissal of a passenger can occur before and during the journey if Arctic Umiaq Line A/S’ staff assesses that the passenger is a nuisance. Dismissal can occur if the passenger poses a security risk, does not have or will not acquire a valid ticket, does not follow instructions from the staff, behaves noisily or violently, or commits vandalism. This list is not exhaustive. Rejection or dismissal can occur with the help of the police.


9. DATA PROTECTION

To process the booking and ensure that travel arrangements run smoothly and meet the expectations rightfully expected, Arctic Umiaq Line A/S needs the information you provide in connection with your booking, such as name, address, and any special needs, dietary requirements, etc. We take full responsibility for implementing correct security measures to protect your information.


10. DISPUTES AND JURISDICTION

Any dispute should, as far as possible, be resolved between the parties through dialogue. If a problem arises during and in connection with your trip, you should report it onboard immediately. In the unlikely event that a problem cannot be resolved at the time, and you wish to complain to us, you are encouraged to send a comprehensive written description within 28 days of your return. You are also obligated to limit any loss and inconvenience you might have as a result of the circumstances. If you do not take one or more of these actions, it will impair our ability to resolve your problem and/or investigate it fully. As a result, any right to compensation you might have under the circumstances will be lost or significantly reduced. Any legal actions must be brought before the Court in Greenland. Greenlandic law applies.
