About the ship
M/S Sarfaq Ittuk was built in 1992 and renovated and extended in the winter of 1999/2000. She now has a length of 73 meters and a width of 11 meters. With an engine of 2000 HP, the ship reaches a speed of 13 knots.
The ship’s capacity is 238 passengers with a crew of 22 people. Accommodation facilities are 26 4-bed cabins, all of them with window and bathroom, and 134 couchettes.
Passengers with couchettes have access to lockable showers in public areas. The ship is classified by the “Norske Veritas” to sail in the Arctic area.

Luggage
Luggage storage rooms for passengers are available in couchettes on deck 1, 2 and 3.
Luggage stored in the luggage rooms is stored at own risk and we recommend marking all items with name and contact information.
We provide safety boxes in the information hall on deck 3 (DKK 10.- per day).

Internet
We offer wireless internet in the aft lounge, and in the Café Sarfaq at a price of DKK 50 per 30 sequential minutes.

Safety aboard
Safety is Arctic Umiaq Lines number one priority, which is reflected in several ways in the daily life aboard Sarfaq Ittuk. It is routine for the crew to think and act from the highest possible safety requirements and standards at all times.
The ship is built of heavy steel. The crew is well trained and has extensive experience in sailing with passengers along the coast of Greenland. Occasionally with passengers aboard, fire and safety drills will be carried out. The exercises are necessary to provide the crew with the greatest possible experience, should an emergency occur.

Smoking
Smoking is only allowed in designated areas on open deck aft deck 4 and deck 5. (This also apply for Electronic cigarettes)

Frozen goods
Unfortunately, no freezer is available aboard on Sarfaq Ittuk. However, we offer access to a red thermo box on open deck, aft deck 4. Goods stored in the thermo box is stored at own risk and we recommend to mark all items with name and contact information.

Weapons
All weapons have to be handed to the deck officer when boarding the ship.

Pets
It is possible to take a pet along on your travels. You can max. bring one pet. The journey must not extend over more than 36 hours.
Dogs and cats are not allowed to stay in the public passenger areas inside the ship during the journey. By booking and boarding, you are required to present valid vaccination certificate. Dogs and cats must have an approved transportation crate, and can only be allowed if they can stay on deck. Obtaining the transportation crate is your own responsibility.
Fee: DKK 300 to bring your cat or dog. The fee must be paid upon embarking.

Seasickness
Seasickness is not dangerous and can be prevented.
It is possible to buy seasickness tablets or Sea-band at Café Sarfaq. If you have any questions please contact our staff in Café Sarfaq or at the information desk.

Due to the size and structure of the ship, there are limited access conditions for wheelchair users.

Ships guide
We provide a ships guide in June, July and August. The Ships guide will give lectures in different topics about Greenland and make sightseeing in some of the smaller cities and settelments.
Due to Covid-19, there will be no ships guide in 2021.

When the information stand and Café Sarfaq are closed, it is possible to contact the staff on the bridge by activating the emergency button next to the Information on deck 3.
